Chasmanthium latifolium

Northern Sea Oats

Description

Upright, clump-forming native grass with mid-green lance-shaped, arching foliage that turns bronze in fall. Decorative panicles of hanging oat-like flower heads shimmer and rustle in the summer breeze. Heads persist in winter turning tan, brown, and rusty bronze. Prefers fertile, moist light to heavy well-drained soils; tolerates sea spray and some drought. Good in partial shade.
