We have a great selection of evergreens that will fit most every design need whether it is weeping, columnar, low and round, for a screen or a specimen piece. Check the availability and you will find them ranging in size from 3′ Picea pungens Globosa to 19′ Pinus strobus Columnaris.
We grow 16 varieties of taxus, so we are sure to have one to fit your needs. From cold hardy cuspidata, to tall and thin Adam’s perfect for hedges, to Densiformis, Wardii and Brownii for mass and foundation plantings. They are machine dug in a basket for an optimum package, yet no larger or heavier than a hand dug ball.
This is the time of the year when most plants are losing their visual impact. Grasses are coming into their own now adding interest and texture to a landscape. We have a great selection ranging in size from the compact Pennisetum a. ‘Little Bunny’ to the tall Erianthus ravennae.
We strive to grow plants that are of a superior quality that shine in any landscape. In an effort to ensure our high quality plants have solid root balls that hold up to handling and shipping, we put a machine ball and wire basket on many plants that are traditionally hand dug. Some examples are in the photos below. We believe you will agree that the extra effort and cost we put into the package pays off with your customer’s satisfaction.

This is the time of the year when ornamental grasses look great with their plumes either present now or coming shortly. Fluffy Pennisetum, erect Calamagrostis, and wispy Miscanthus add to fall interest of any garden. We have other varieties also that range from the short ‘Little Bunny’ to the tall Erianthus ravennae. We even have the native Sporobolus heterolepis. Review the availability to see what other great grasses we have available now.
In keeping with our plan to grow “Unique and Specialty” plant material, we also grow some unique ground cover. We are now growing Cornus canadensis which is a 3” tall dogwood also known as Bunchberry or Creeping Dogwood. Gaultheria procumbens, known as Checkerberry or Wintergreen, a scented evergreen and Arctostaphylos u u Mass, also known as Bearberry are other great groundcovers. Call your salesman for more information about these three great, but hard to find plants.
In the last several weeks we have had some low 50 degree temperatures at night in North East Ohio. With that comes sizing of material, which we have started. Most of the evergreens are in the availability now and we will be starting the deciduous material very soon. This means the material is just about finished growing, making it a great time to schedule a tour of the nursery. We would love the opportunity to show you our Unique and Specimen Nursery Stock to you!
We will be closed on Friday to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy in this country with our families and friends. We hope you have the opportunity to do so, too. All of us at Losely Nursery thank each of you who have served in the military to keep our freedoms.
We began expanding our container area in the fall across the street from the main office. We have included more Branded material to have the plants that your customers are reading about in the horticulture and home improvement publications. We will also be potting more of our field grown shrubs that were grown for containers such as Hydrangea quercifolia cvs for 5 and 10 gallon cans.
