Please review!

You should have received your acknowledgement in the mail by now.  If you have not, please call the office and we will email one to you.  Take a moment and review the availability as there are a few customers that have given material back for various reasons.  There may be something on there you are looking for.  Landscape sized Viburnums from 30” to 8’?  We have them!

Spring acknowledgements have been mailed!

For those of you who have placed a Spring 2018 order, you should be receiving your acknowledgment in the mail shortly, if you haven’t already.  Please review what you have been acknowledged.  Demand is high and supplies are low on some plants, so pay special attention to any size or variety substitutions.  Those of you who have not placed your order, we encourage you to do so sooner than later.

From our families to yours

The staff at Losely Nursery hopes you have the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with your family.  We are closing on Wednesday, November 22nd, at noon for the weekend so all of us can spend time with ours.  We will reopen on Monday, November 27th at 7:30 a.m.

Allocation process is about to start

Don’t wait for the trade shows to place your Spring order!  We will start allocating next Friday, November 17th.  Any orders received after 4:00 pm on Thursday, November 16th will be dated and time stamped as we receive them.  They will then be entered after the allocation, in the order in which they were received.
There is still plenty of inventory, but again, don’t wait.

There’s still time.

There is still time to make money before Winter arrives.  Please take a few minutes to review our availability.  You will find we have a great selection of plants available in a wide range of sizes.

And don’t forget to get your Spring orders in.  We will be allocating Spring orders Thanksgiving week.

In full swing

Fall digging season is in full swing.  We have had about 2.5” of rain and it’s cooled down.  The soil is still warm so the plants will begin to root in and start to establish before winter.

We still have a great selection of material available for your fall projects.  It won’t be long until you need to think about your spring order.

Precautions for viable plants

We are taking every precaution to be sure you receive viable plants from us.  All of our plants are run under a water gantry to soak the burlap so the burlap does not repel water.  Then while still on the pallet to protect the root ball, the plants are dunked in our dip tank to get more water into the ball.  This does not turn the ball to mud, but it does allow the irrigation to maintain moisture in the ball and the plant.  After the plants are shipped, it’s your turn to water twice a week until the ground freezes.

Don’t forget to water regularly.

It is very important to water the root ball twice a week.  It should be enough that the surrounding soil absorbs water also. Fall rain is not enough to keep the plant alive so water regularly until the ground freezes.

It is also a great time to plant perennials. While they may look a little tired by this time of the year, they will root in and come up great next year.

Deer Resistant Plants

With deer being such a problem in the landscape, there’s a need for deer resistant plants.  We have them!  Cephalotaxus h. ‘Prostrata’ is a nice spreading shrub that deer leave alone.  Thuja p. ‘Green Giant’ and Rhododendron are as well.  You will find other deer resistant varieties through our availability.
